FABRIC BARN NEWS AND NOTES STRAIGHT FROM THE HEN HOUSE

The flood in September has left us with a great deal of work in the house, the shop, and the yard.  The shop is not always open in these months following the flood because I must gather supplies, tools, and other necessities to repair what was damaged.  I deeply apologize if you or someone you know has come to the shop and I have not been there.  Workmen leave me a list of items and I am depended upon to have those things for their next work day.  Please bear with me; living in chaos is not easy and it will be months before we can say we are done.  Many of the repair jobs are in a holding pattern waiting for weather to change or fit into a contractor's schedule.  So many people have flooded and have hired workmen that it is not easy to find the help you need in a timely fashion.  I hope by February or March we can say it is back together and the recovery over.... in the meantime, if you would like to call ahead to let us know when you are coming, please feel free to do so.  607 656 8959

I have made many new friends and found a world of kindness existing in sewing circles around the state and elsewhere.  I have witnessed hundreds upon hundreds of dresses, quilts, laprobes, pillowcases and other items being sewn and donated by quilters and quilting guilds; all made so willing and with such heart.  I have learned that there is a very gentle purpose to the sewing that many of you do.  Projects made that show compassion and caring for children around the world suffering from disasters, health issues, and poverty, warm robes for the elderly and homeless, pillowcases for hospitals and this is done without any want of recognition or reward for yourselves.  I am proud to hear of the good things you do... it is what the news should be more often
